Why Right On Call

Every call you would have missed, picked up and booked.

Right On Call is not a receptionist replacement and not a platform you configure. It is a receptionist built for one shop at a time, for the calls nobody gets to, and it ends those calls inside the tools you already run.

Built for the calls you miss, not to replace the people who answer

Right On Call can answer every call if you want it to. That is not what it is built for. It is built so that a call you would have missed, on a roof, in a crawlspace, at lunch, after 5, on a Saturday, gets picked up and ends as a booked job instead of a voicemail nobody returns.

Who picks up, hour by hour

You answer, like you always haveIt would have rung out. Right On Call picks up
An illustrative owner-operator day: in the office 8 to 5, except the hours on a job, at lunch, or on another call. Your free missed-call audit maps the real pattern from your call logs.
  1. 1

    You answer first

Keep your number. If you are free, you take the call like you always have.

  2. 2

It picks up what rings out

After the rings you choose, or after hours, the call forwards and the receptionist answers as your shop.

  3. 3

    It ends booked

Triage, a postal-code check, a real open time or a text to your on-call phone, and a confirmation to the caller.

Where it is not a front-desk replacement

  • Live transfer to a person mid-call. It texts your team instead.
  • Checking on a repair already underway. Those callers are passed to your team.
  • Cancelling or moving an existing appointment on its own.
  • Diagnosing a fault or quoting a repair price.

Reason 1

Built for your shop, not a template

We write the receptionist for one business at a time: your services, your service area, your emergency list, your on-call numbers, your greeting. You hear it before a customer does, and we tune it after launch.

What you usually get instead

Self-serve platforms hand you a prompt box and a knowledge-base upload, then leave the call flow to you. The same template answers for a dentist, a law office, and a furnace shop.

  • A follow-up question per job type, so a fridge call and a dryer call get different questions
  • Emergency vs routine triage written from what counts as urgent in your trade
  • Canadian postal-code coverage with a readback, and out-of-area bookings refused in code
  • Lead times per job type, so a job you cannot reach this week is not booked for tomorrow
  • English and French on every call. The agent follows the caller
  • A first working version within 24 hours of a complete onboarding pack

Reason 2

It writes into the tools you already run

The call ends inside your systems, not in another inbox. Live today: Cal.com, Calendly, Google Calendar, Outlook / Microsoft 365, Jobber, Zoho CRM, Zoho Invoice. The booking, the client, and the job land where your office already looks.

What you usually get instead

Many AI answering products email you a summary or keep the booking in their own dashboard. Somebody in the office still re-types it into the board in the morning.

  • Jobber connect from the dashboard: the call creates the client and the job. It does not assign a technician
  • Books against live Cal.com or Calendly availability, which reach Google, Outlook, and iCloud
  • Zoho CRM contact and call note, and a Zoho Invoice draft when a call becomes a booked job
  • A job-summary text to your on-call number the moment a call books
  • Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Workiz, Service Fusion, AppFolio and similar: one adapter built during setup on ManagedOn request

Every tool, labelled live, on request, or coming soon, is on the integrations page.

Reason 3

Pricing you can read in one line

$150 a month in Canadian dollars for 200 answered minutes, then $0.75 a minute, billed to the second, so an extra minute costs what an included one does. $500 setup, paid once. No term, no credits, no tokens.

What you usually get instead

Across the category you will find credits, units, "unique callers," per-conversation fees, per-call add-ons, plans that move you up a tier when you go over, and prices that only exist on a sales call. Most are billed in US dollars.

  • Going over your minutes never moves you to a bigger plan. You pay for the minutes you used
  • Connected talk time billed to the second, not rounded up per call
  • Unanswered rings, the confirmation text, and photo intake are not billable minutes
  • Essential and Managed are priced on the pricing page, with what each one does not include

Going over does not move you up a plan

You pay for the minutes you went over at your plan's own rate, $0.75 on Essential and $0.70 on Managed. The month is not re-rated and nobody calls you about upgrading.

Minutes are billed to the second

A call that lasts 3:35 bills as 3.58 minutes, not 4. As overage on Essential that is $2.69, not the $3.00 a vendor who rounds every call up would charge.

Only answered calls count

Rings nobody reaches, hangups before connection, and the SMS confirmation and photo intake after the call are not billable minutes.

Reason 4

A dropped call is not a lost job

Callers hang up. Cell signal drops in a basement. When a call ends before anything is booked, the caller gets a text, the shop gets the details, and the job can still land on the calendar.

What you usually get instead

Most receptionists treat a hang-up as the end of the call. The shop finds a missed-call notification later, if at all, and the caller has already phoned the next listing.

  • A recovery text to the caller when they hang up or ask to be called back
  • Name, address, job, and the time they agreed to are kept on the call even when the calendar refused it
  • Text the customer from the dashboard with a drafted reply. A YES back marks the call booked
  • The recovery text offers open times and books the one the caller replies withComing soon

When we are not the best choice

We would rather lose the sale than sell the wrong shape of product.

You want it running tonight for under $50

A self-serve platform will get you a generic answer line in an hour. We take a few days because someone writes your script and tests it on your number.

You need a live transfer mid-call

Our receptionist texts your on-call number with the name, number, and reason instead of bridging the call. Several competitors transfer live. If that is a must, buy one of them.

You want a human on every call

Some calls need a person the whole way through. A staffed answering service is the right buy there, and we say so on our answering-service comparison.

You run a ServiceTitan call centre

Five or more CSRs on ServiceTitan is a different product. Tools built natively for that stack will fit better. Our ServiceTitan adapter is on request.

You need HIPAA or SOC 2 today

The default product is PIPEDA-aligned. It is not a HIPAA product and it is not SOC 2 certified. A scoped compliance build is priced separately.

Common questions

Is Right On Call meant to replace my receptionist?

No. It can answer every call, but it is built for the calls nobody gets to: while you are on a job, at lunch, after hours, and on weekends. You keep answering first. When the phone rings out, it picks up and books the job.

What happens if the call drops?

The caller gets a recovery text, and whatever they said before the call dropped stays on the call for your team, including the time they agreed to if the calendar refused it. You can text them from the dashboard with a drafted reply, and a YES back marks the call booked. Booking a new time straight from a reply to the recovery text is coming soon.

Does Right On Call charge by tokens or credits?

No. $150 CAD a month covers 200 answered minutes. After that it is $0.75 a minute, billed to the second, the same as an included minute. Going over never moves you to a bigger plan.
