How the Google Calendar hook actually works

Default path

Cal.com is the booking calendar we ship. It already talks to Google Calendar, Outlook / Microsoft 365, and iCloud. The receptionist only offers times Cal.com says are free after a live check.

What the caller hears

Two or three real windows, in the shop’s timezone, with the service-area check already done. If nothing is free, the agent says so and takes a callback. It does not “hold Tuesday at 2” as a courtesy fiction.

Direct Google Calendar

If you do not want Cal.com in the middle, native Google OAuth is on request. Same rule: live availability, no invented slots. Most founding customers do not need it.

This is for

Shops whose “dispatch board” is still a shared Google Calendar.
Anyone booking estimates, diagnostic windows, or office callbacks rather than a full Jobber job.

This is not

Multi-tech operations that already live in Jobber or Housecall Pro and need the job object, not just a calendar event. See the Jobber page.

What we will not claim

Offer a time the calendar has already given to someone else.
Manage your whole staff roster or Jobber schedule from the calendar page. That is a field-service adapter.
Send outbound reminder calls yet. Those are on the roadmap.

Google Calendar questions

Can the agent double-book?

It is blocked from inventing availability. Slots are re-checked against live calendar state. If two calls hit the last window at once, the second caller is told it just went and offered the next real time.

What about Outlook?

Live through Cal.com. Direct Microsoft Graph is on request if you refuse the middle layer.

Do I have to switch calendars?

No. Keep Google Calendar. Cal.com is the pipe, not a new place the techs have to live.

The slot has to exist before we say yes.
