Your existing number
You do not need to put a new phone number on the truck.
The number your customers already know can usually stay the number they call. The answering layer can change without making your business start over with a new phone number.
Forwarding
Your current carrier forwards calls to the Right On Call number according to the rules you choose. This is often the simplest way to start.
Porting
When the setup calls for it, the existing number can be moved to the telephony provider. The exact process depends on the carrier and number.
Keep control of the call flow
The point is not to replace your phone number. It is to decide what happens when a call comes in: answer it yourself, send it to the AI, route certain callers elsewhere, or escalate when a person needs to step in.
Before changing anything, we test the routing on a private line so the public number is not the place where we discover a configuration problem.
Common questions
Do I have to change my business phone number?
Usually not. Calls can be forwarded to the AI receptionist, or the existing number can be ported when that is the right setup.
Will customers still call the same number?
Yes when forwarding or porting is configured correctly. Your public business number does not need to become a new number just because the answering layer changes.
Can I still answer calls myself?
Yes. The call flow can be designed around your preferred routing, including forwarding calls when you are available and using the AI when you are not.
